ISTAS 2021 Invites Paper Submissions for October 28-31 Conference

The 2021 IEEE International Symposium on Technology and Society (ISTAS21) warmly invites full-paper, short-paper, and abstract-only submissions by the extended deadline of 13 July. This year’s conference will run as a virtual event from 28-31 October 2021 and the core theme is Technological Stewardship and Responsible Innovation. ISTAS21 is the flagship event of the IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology (https://technologyandsociety.org). This interdisciplinary conference brings together researchers, engineers, policymakers, industry experts, students, and members of the public to foster dialogue about the social implications of technology and importance of responsibility during this period of unprecedented technological advancement. The program will include paper presentations, panel discussions, interactive workshops, networking opportunities, and more. In addition, the IEEE ETHICS-2021 conference will be held as a track within ISTAS21, focused on the theme of “Engineering and Corporate Social Responsibility.”

The IEEE International Symposium on Technology and Society (ISTAS) is the flagship conference of the IEEE’s Society on the Social Implications of Technology—the oldest society and conference of its kind.

ISTAS is a multi/inter/trans‐disciplinary forum for engineers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, philosophers, researchers, social scientists, technologists, and polymaths to collaborate, exchange experiences, and discuss the social implications of technology.

ISTAS21 Theme: Technological Stewardship and Responsible Innovation

The 2021 IEEE ISTAS Conference Committee invites you to be part of this year’s flagship SSIT conference. Hosted as a hybrid event by the University of Waterloo and University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada) from 28-31 October 2021, ISTAS21 will take place online, with select in-person, live-streamed activities in Waterloo—COVID-19 permitting.
