N R Narayana Murthy to present Opening Speech on 22 July 2021.
Infosys co-founder and long-time commentator on technology and society, Narayana Murthy will open the 21st Century Wiener conference with a speech reflecting the conference theme, “Being human in a global village”. His interest in Norbert Wiener reflects the strong links between Wiener and the early IT industry in India.

Interview with Prof. V Rajaraman, Honorary Professor, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru

“Prof. Norbert Wiener is the father of cybernetics, a formalization of feedback with myriad applications in engineering. We, in India, had the privilege of two visits by him in 1953 and 1956. I am happy we have a conference Chennai in July 2020 on the importance of his work.” – N. R. Narayana Murthy, Indian IT industrialist and the Co-Founder of Infosys

“I was at MIT during 1949-50 when Prof. Wiener was Professor at MIT.  Prof. Wiener was at Maths Department but his reach covered cybernetics and software. I would like to say the software industry in United States came into being because of Norbert Wiener.
Prof. Wiener cared for the students apart from the discipline and I would often ask him about software in the developing countries like India. He always provided the advice and methodology. It was an honor for me to have known him and learn from him. I wish the Function on 16th July 2019 all success.” – (Late) F C Kohli , Indian industrialist, Father of the Indian Software Industry.
(Late) F C Kohli addressed in India event at IIT Bombay 2018. A tribute to Mr. F C Kohli published in Hindu Business Line on 27th November 2020.

I was honored to present 21st Century Norbert Wiener Memorial lecture, “THINKING MACHINES IN THE PHYSICAL WORLD IN THE CONTEXT OF 21st CENTURY”   at IEEE 2016 Conference on Norbert Wiener in the 21st Century India Events, April 22-23 2016 (part of IEEE 2016 Conference on Norbert Wiener in the 21st Century India Events on 13 – 15 July 2016, Melbourne Australia) [Link] in association with  IEEE India Council [Link] National Institute of Advanced Studies, Indian Institute of Science Campus, Bangalore , NASSCOM and it has gained wide popularity.
The organizing committee of “IEEE 2016 Conference on Norbert Wiener in the 21st Century” have also uploaded the lecture artifact at official page of this conference :- [Link]
Also, I feel glad to recall that this was one of the world prestigious honor –“Norbert Wiener Award”  (organized by IEEE System, Man and Cybernetics Society endowment administered by IEEE Foundation) – 1st prize in the 1st year  was awarded to me in 1977 for globally appreciated and acknowledged innovatory paper entitled “Cybernetics and General Systems Theory – A Unitary Science ?”. The end of that award winning lecture by me was nothing but a new beginning of wide opportunity in Science and Technology and it opened thousands of doors in future Technological and Industrial growth. The lecture material was requested/communicated/released (or proposed) at various Indian and International institutions and organizations like :-
Massachusetts Institute of Technology – MIT
Oxford University
IITs
Jadavpur University
……. and many more on the way. – (Late) Dwijesh Dutta Majumdar, Honorary Director-Secretary of the Institute of Cybernetics Systems and Information Technology, Kolkata.
