New EIC/Co-EIC of IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society Appointed

The IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society (the SSIT sister publication to IEEE Technology and Society Magazine) has appointed Prof. George Roussos and Assistant Professor Jordan Richard Schoenherr as the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) and the Co-EIC, respectively, beginning in January 2026.

Prof. Katina Michael is currently completing her second three-year term as the founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE TTS. She noted, “I am absolutely thrilled that George and Jordan applied in tandem as they bring diverse interdisciplinary strengths to the EIC-ship.”

 

George Roussos

George Roussos is a Professor of pervasive computing with Birkbeck College, University of London, where he currently conducts research on digital healthcare and self-sovereignty in decentralized search. He holds a BSc (Hons.) in mathematics from the University of Athens, an MSc in numerical analysis and computing from The University of Manchester, and a PhD in computer science from Imperial College London. Prior to joining Birkbeck, he held posts as the R&D Manager for a major IT corporation in Southern Europe, the Internet Systems Security Officer for the Greek Ministry of Defense, and the founding Director of a MedTech start-up in London. He currently holds the role of Associate Rapporteur for Study Group 20/Q1 of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), leading the development of global standards for emerging smart city technologies. Roussos was a founding Senior Editor of IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society and reviewed the IEEE Technology and Society Magazine and the International Symposium on Technology and Society for many years. Jordan Richard Schoenherr

Jordan Richard Schoenherr is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Psychology at Schreiner University, serves as an Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Psychology, and is a member of the Institute for Data Science at Carleton University. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Ottawa’s Skills and Simulation Centre (UOSSC), a Visiting Scholar at the United States Military Academy (West Point), and a Research Fellow at the Center for AI and Digital Policy. In addition to his academic experience, he worked as a Senior Ethics Policy Consultant for the Ombudsman, Integrity, and Resolution Office (Health Canada/PHAC), the Office of the Chief Scientist (Health Canada), the Canadian Border Services Agency, and the Department of National Defense. In addition to serving on university committees, including those focused on diversity, research ethics, and assessment, he also served as a member of the AI Guidelines Steering Committee of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. Schoenherr is a Senior Editor at IEEE TTS and has been involved with the IEEE International Symposium on Technology and Society, supporting the conference with his research papers between 2020 and 2024. He is the author of Ethical Artificial Intelligence from Popular to Cognitive Science: Trust in the Age of Entanglement (Routledge, 2022) and a coeditor of a two-volume series on Fundamentals and Frontiers of Medical Education and Decision-Making (also published by Routledge in 2024) and a forthcoming volume on insider threat detection.
