Personal data is a commodity, and there is great incentive for those profiting from that commodity to conceal the ways in which our personal data is being collected, used, and shared.

As such, principles of design and narrative are applied so that the benefits of connective devices and platforms are obvious — but risks are camouflaged in densely constructed fine print in terms of service agreements.
