Luis Kun Recognized by IEEE Computer Society as Distinguished Contributor

Immediate SSIT Past-President Luis Kun has been recognized by the IEEE Computer Society as a Distinguished Contributor.

The IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Contributor Recognition Program recognizes Computer Society members “who have made technical contributions, through either applied or pure computing, to the Computing Profession, Computing Community, and Humanity.”

Dr. Kun served as SSIT President in 2023-2024, and is the current Past President (2025-2026) of SSIT. He is an IEEE Life Fellow and Fellow of AIMBE, IAMBE, and IUPESM, is internationally recognized for leadership in biomedical engineering, healthcare, public health, information technology, and national security.

He has been involved with the Distinguished Visitor Program (DVP) of the IEEE Computer Society since 2003. On October 3 and 4, 2025, he was an invited panelist and invited speaker on “Interdisciplinary Work”, at the Congress of Latin America Students and Young Professionals of Computer Society for Region 9 (CLASYPCS 2025), in Montevideo, Uruguay. At this event he was reinstated as a speaker for the DVP and elected a 2025 Distinguished Contributor of the Computer Society.
