Gisele Waters Gisele Waters, SSIT Standards Committee Working Group Chair for IEEE P3119-2025, has been recognized with a 2025 Standards Award, the IEEE SA – Emerging Technology Award.
IEEE Standards Awards recognize exceptional contributions to IEEE standards development each year. The Emerging Technology Award may be presented annually to an individual, working group, or company that has “advanced, initiated, or progressed a new technology” within the IEEE Standards process that meets certain criteria for new technologies.
IEEE P3119-2025 was published May 23, 2025, and helps procurement teams reduce risks in artificial intelligence systems (AIS) by using tailored risk management practices when purchasing AIS.
Waters is Co-Founder of the AI Procurement Lab, an AI governance standards builder, and a human-centered design researcher. She is focused on addressing risk to vulnerable populations by optimizing human experiences and processes with technology.
